Cultural Practice, LLC (CP) is a women-owned small business supporting international development activities in agriculture and food security, economic growth, and health programs and policies, with a strong emphasis on gender integration cross-sectorally. Since launching the business in 2000, we have worked with USAID, IFPRI, CIFOR, USDA, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Association for Public and Land-Grant Universities, University of California-Davis, Columbia University, Conservation International, CARE, the Pan-American Health Organization, and others in the U.S. and in all five world regions.
Although small, we have developed an excellent reputation for designing sophisticated yet practical approaches for achieving social change. We currently hold a subcontract under the Women in Development IQC and have a subaward with the University of Illinois Leader with Associate award on Modernizing Extension Advisory Services. We were also an important subcontractor part of the recently completed Health Policy Initiative IQC, providing technical assistance on gender integration activities and the SEARCH IQC. We are currently developing a knowledge management activity for the USAID-funded Collaborative Research Support Programs to highlight the thirty years of results in agricultural development. CP has been the lead author of “A Manual for Integrating Gender into Reproductive Health and HIV Programs: From Commitment to Action (2nd ed.)” and “Promoting Gender Equitable Opportunities in Agricultural Value Chains: A Handbook.” We have also conducted over numerous gender trainings and gender assessments for USAID missions and partners.
