Making Cents International

Making Cents International is a social enterprise based in Washington, D.C. that provides specialized technical services and curricula that enable entrepreneurs and enterprises to participate in profitable markets; financial institutions to serve new populations; and individuals to obtain meaningful work. Since 1999, Making Cents has partnered with more than 4,000 local organizations in over 50 countries. Our global reach includes programmatic work in Africa, the Americas and Caribbean, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Making Cents fosters sustainable development solutions by building capacity at the local level so that knowledge, skills, and relevant learning tools are retained by the local populations. Our technical services include, but are not limited to: assessments and inclusiveness strategies for youth, women, and disadvantaged groups; BDS provider training to support micro and small entrepreneurs and agricultural producers; curriculum development for work readiness and enterprise development programs; inclusive financial service capacity strengthening for MFIs, commercial banks and other FSPs; and conference facilitation, including knowledge generation, capture, dissemination, and application. Throughout its 12-year history, Making Cents has designed and implemented projects funded by various funders including USAID, The MasterCard Foundation, and Hewlett-Packard. Making Cents has also collaborated with various educational institutions, international agencies, and NGOs, including Ministries of Education, the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), BRAC International, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and the World Bank.
